As the former baseball pitcher for Division II Winona State University in Winona, Minnesota, Chase Blazier is the “ringer” for various after-work sports leagues, but there’s more to him than his athleticism. Blazier joined Eder, Casella & Co. in 2015, after interning for two summers at the firm. Patient, knowledgeable and “always happy,” according to his colleagues, he handles everything from audits to taxes — and reports that he can finally “work a 10-key calculator without looking at it… well, most of the time.”

At Winona, Blazier earned a Bachelor’s in Accounting, choosing the field after taking two accounting classes in high school and, in his words, “loving them.” The subject certainly was more enticing than his first paying job, which involved walking through bean and cornfields in his hometown of Harvard and picking up all the larger rocks. “I got a killer tan and was allowed to drive a tractor,” he says. “But my least favorite thing about it? Picking up the rocks.”
